adequate air circulation. A build-up of leaves, twigs or other debris can severely reduce ventilation. It
also is important to be sure that the bilge water level does not accumulate to a level that could restrict the
ventilation ducts.
• Blower operation can and should be tested by placing a hand over the exhaust vent. Do not rely on the
sound of the blower. A substantial amount of air should be exhausted by the blower. Frequently check
the intake vent for obstructions, preferably before each cruise.
• Many manufacturers of carbon monoxide detectors offer a testing and recertification program. We
recommend that you contact the manufacturer of your carbon monoxide detector and have it tested and
recertified periodically.
SHOULD BLOWER NOISE BECOME EXCESSIVE, THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE SHOULD
BE FOUND AND CORRECTED BEFORE OPERATING THE BOAT.
