Chapter 8:
INTERIOR EQUIPMENT
8.1 Cabin and V-Berth
The V-berth in the cabin is equipped with removable cushions and storage below the cushions.
Daylight and fresh air are provided to this area by an overhead opening hatch. Additional lighting is provided
by 12-volt lights.
CABIN DOOR AND HATCH
Raise the hatch before opening the cabin door. It is very important that the cabin door is secured properly
in the open or closed position. To lock the cabin door, close the hatch and the door and turn the black knob
on the front of the door. In the open position, the door should be firmly attached to the special lock/latch on
the inside of the boat. The door could be damaged by the motion of the boat if it is allowed to swing free.
8.2 Marine Head System
PERMANENT TOILET
The permanent toilet qualifies as a Marine Sanitation Device (MSD). It is equipped with a deck pump-out
and has a self-contained water supply. The system is made up of two major components, an upper tank and
a lower tank. The upper tank contains the fresh water supply, a bellows pump, a seat and the lid. The bottom
tank contains the flush valve and a waste holding tank.
The head is equipped with a permanent deck mounted pump-out system to evacuate the waste. Boats with
an MSD will be equipped with a deck fitting marked “waste” located on the deck. Since this system is required
to be permanent, the bottom waste tank cannot be removed and the only way to evacuate the system is by an
approved waste dumping station.
To use the portable head, add the recommended amount of holding tank deodorant to the waste tank and fill
the fresh water tank. To flush after use, pull the waste valve handle straight out, then press the flushing bellows
one or more times to rinse. To close and seal the waste holding tank, simply push the valve handle all the way
in. Monitor the level in the waste tank and empty as necessary.
To keep your portable head operating properly it must be emptied and properly cleaned periodically. Please
refer to the manufacturer owner’s manual for detailed instructions on the proper operation of your portable
head.
MARINE HEAD (Optional)
The marine toilet is located in the center of the V-berth. The flush water is supplied by a thru-hull fitting
located in the forward bilge. Before using, open the inlet valve on the head and pump to wet the inside of
the bowl. After use, pump to discharge the waste to the holding tank, then close the inlet valve and pump
the bowl dry. The waste remains in the holding tank until it is pumped out by a waste dumping station.
