Chapter 4:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
4.1 General
Your Pursuit is equipped with AC and 12-volt DC electrical systems. The AC system can draw current from
one of two sources, either shore power outlets at dockside or the optional generator. The DC system draws
current from on-board batteries.
The Group 31, 12-volt batteries provided in your boat are of the lead-acid type. They will require similar
maintenance as those found in automobiles. Two engine batteries are located in the aft bilge. The house and
electronics batteries are located under the L-lounge.
There are electrical schematics included in this manual to assist with servicing the electrical systems.
COMPARTMENTS ON A PURSUIT BOAT MAY BE LIGHTED FOR NIGHT USE. LIGHT
BULBS GENERATE HEAT AND CAN IGNITE ORDINARY COMBUSTIBLES CAUSING A
FIRE. DO NOT PLACE OR STORE COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS IN CONTACT WITH
LIGHT BULBS. TURN OFF ALL LIGHTING PRIOR TO LEAVING THE BOAT.
4.2 DC Distribution System
There are four batteries, one for the starboard engine, one for the port engine, a house battery and an electronics
battery. All batteries can be charged by the engine or by the battery charger when connected to shore power.
A circuit breaker located on each engine protects the engine ignition systems and gauges. Please refer to the
engine owner's manual for information on the circuit breakers installed on your engines.
COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
Battery Switch Panel Feeds:
The house and electronics breakers provide total disconnect of all battery power to
the electronics and house battery switch. These breakers are located under the L-
lounge and are accessed through a hatch on the forward side. If the boat is stored out
of the water, turning off the house and electronics breakers will ensure that there is
no electrical drain from the associated batteries. Turning off
the house main will cause the stereo memory to be lost.
These breakers should NEVER be turned off if the boat
is kept in the water as the automatic bilge pumps will not
run.
Bow Thruster Main (Optional):
This main breaker provides protection to the bow thruster and its wiring.
